An asset-tracing exercise depends on connecting evidence across entities and jurisdictions. Similar names or shared addresses can provide leads, but they do not by themselves establish ownership.

Document each connection
Each link in the research should have a source and a date. The distinction between a confirmed holding and a research lead remains essential throughout the process.

Understand the limitations
Public records may be incomplete or out of date. A defensible analysis describes those limits and identifies what additional work is needed before relying on a finding.
